Are all Sitemaps the same and yield equivalent results?

    M new to using sitemaps so i would like to know which sitemap suits my blog the best? or i can apply any sitemap?

    Thanks but codes may be in different languages or scripts.
    so every code has its own functionality.

    If the sitemap is .xml then will all sitemaps with .xml extension will serve the same purpose?

    You can use two sitemaps for your website one is static sitemap(sitemap.html or php etc) that would be used for your human visitors and other will be sitemap.xml, that would be used for search engine crawlers...:)
