Alexa is not comparable to Google. Both have different criteria to find out ranking and Google is more accurate than Alexa.
And how do you use Google to find the number of visitors a website gets? As far as I know Alexa is the only one doing that, Google is not an alternative, unless it's your own website of course.
The only one of these two doing it that is, know about compete.com and similar sites but they are even less accurate.

But how would people know the actual traffic numbers? Is there anything better than Alexa out there? I haven't found it at least.
The fact that you can inflate your own ratings by installing their toolbar and visiting your site multiple times per day makes them ripe for abuse. This is definitely not a reliable measurement tool, however people seem to care about it when you sell advertising or when you sell your site.
There is still no other more credible alternative to Alexa Rating for now so we must still go by it. Secondly, the idea that the reading has some relationship with installing the toolbar is strange to me as i do not think that has any factual basis.
What is the relationship between Google and Alexa? None in this regard as this concerns traffic and not Page Rank.
