    Are Aged Domains Still Worth $$$

    And what age do they start becoming valuable?

    For example if i got a pronounceable 6 letter .com that was just over 5 years old what would it be worth?

    Yes aged domain has always more value than new one. But the actual value vary on the industry of the domain.

    Value would vary on the name and if it has been continually indexed in Google for 5 years as opposed to unused and not indexed.

    Ok, so here is a specific example

    domain = aweing.com

    Age = 6 years 3 months

    history http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://aweing.com

    Q1 = What would this domain be worth as it is, with just one year history?
    Q2 = What would it be worth if it had full history?

    There is no "cut and dry" equation of value based on some mathematical scale.
    Every domains is different.
    Depends on the industry, whether or not it's a real word, marketable, traffic (if any), and many other factors, the best of which is who does it appeal to, what demographic will it attract, and will buy it.

    You can't just say, "I have a six year old domain, what is it worth?" these are not cars with Blue Book values, this cyber real estate, and values change frequently.

    I don't think its necessarily the age that determines a noticeable difference between an old domain and a new domain's price.

    I think it's just an "icing on the cake" type example.

    There is no doubt that an aged domain is much better from a SEO point of view.

    And why do you say that?

    Sure, it'll tell Google you most likely aren't a spam site, but that is only one way to tell them that. There are better ways to do that anyway- have great creative content and update regularly, it's a better method to tell Google you aren't a spam site.

    I really doubt that there is much importance, other than the fact that it might help someone avoid the sandbox. That too, can be avoided.

    I've seen younger sites defeat older sites in search results, so I doubt it has much impact there either.

    Im sure the are plenty of SEO experts that will argue with you. i personally have some experience in promoting sites in the search engine and i have had far more success with older domains that newer ones.

    I have a 5 letter PR3 .co.uk domain site that is beating sites that are PR4, PR5 and they have better keyword rich domains, i am convinced it because of the age.

    True. I have a new domain that is 3 months old. Traffic is fine, and growing, it is ranking for search terms,and I haven't seen the sandbox yet, (Knock on wood)
    I did see the example, that domains may be of interest as a typo for "Awnings", but there is so much more to consider than just age.
    Who will buy it, and for what? And what is the full history?
    The only thing that has immediate value to the most amount of people is traffic.
    It is definitely worth something, but it is dependent on a lot of other factors, not with standing, how you present it and who you market it to.

    If you are selling text links for PR, age is definitely a consideration

    i myself have sold several pre-2000 for mid-XXX simply because of the fact that they were old domains. but nowadays i am finding it difficult to sell old domains for anything higher than 100$

    i think that the market is overflowing with badquality old domains
