Are Affiliate Summits worth it?

I would like to know if the Affiliate Summits are worth going to. I'm sure they can be a very nice vacation. (I mean tax write off.) However, I'm really more interested in the information you can get at the summit. Is the amount you pay for attending the summit and the travel cost worth paying for compared with the knowledge you receive? Has your income increased enough to compensate for the expenses you incurred? What are the summits like? What do you learn there?

Thanks for any information you can provide.

    Uh read?

And I would think affiliate summits are worth it. As long as you pay attention and visit the companies you are promoting! Great marketing experience!

I'm curious about this too. Has anyone been able to go to one of these before? How has it turned out for you? Is the information helpful or is it just worth it for the vacation?

I think that if you are good at networking an affiliate would be great. If you take great notes and diligently follow what you learned they could also be good. If those do not apply and you are making good money, then what a great tax write off/vacation.

I went to Affiliate Summit last week - I thought it was great for networking (met a lot of people, got some new ideas about offers to run & traffic sources to use, and finally met account managers face-to-face that I've been working with for a while), but the sessions were very lackluster. Some sessions were interesting, but as an affiliate, I didn't get that much out of most sessions. There were some good sessions, but if I had paid for the conference, I don't think that I would have nearly gotten my moneys worth (I got a free ticket this time).

For those of you who don't know, see http://www.affiliatesummit.com/08e_agenda.php for more information (that's the agenda from last week's conference).

I think what they are selling are themselves and getting newbies to buy more of their products and softwares.

Uh... They don't sell products and softwares.

Summit is a great experience and most people I know say they came away with new info that could help them make much more money than the cost of the event. The networking is priceless and sometimes the best info you get will be from another affiliate that shares some tips with you.

Some of the sessions are really good, but if you are going just for education from the sessions you may be missing the boat. It's all the face to face contact, conversations and relationships you can build that are most valuable.

I was wondering the very same thing...

Some people seem to get a lot out of these things, while others...not so good.
