Its not like that it is only helpful in PPC. Adwords also helps in Organic SEO in getting: Keywords, For SERP CTR Improvements, For Landing Page Optimization, For Geographic Targeting and for getting For Link Ideas.
No they don't Adwords ads are all indirect, therefore they have no organic SEO benefits. As soon as you stop paying you'll disappear with no lasting benefit at all.
