... in terms of earning money of course. Because for instance for "Referrals" feature as I use now (i.e. for Firefox), an IE user mind you first needs to download Firefox, install it and launch it for the first time, I guess probably from the same computer as it was downloaded (I have no idea on how Google actually tracks this though), while for the "Search" one, I've read many posts on various forums claiming that ... So what's your opinion/experience ?!! thanks in advance, tayiper
Content is the only one I would ever count on for money. There are far too many stipulations with the referrals. However, a revenue sharing forum might see success by referring users to AdSense as its users would need AdSense to participate. Such use would promote lots of referrals, but the turnaround may still be minimal.
I use the search on almost all pages. Simple to put in and my visitors like being able to search my site. I have always used a search feature on my site soo may as well use one that'll pay for a click away from the site. I haven't used referrals much.
I use the search feature for my site and it seems to work. I may only generate a few searches every day but It's an option that helps visitors navigate your site
Search is a nifty program and I use it as many websites do not have a search button. So I add search, as for referrals ... if you have the room, why not add them cause you never know.
IMHO the adsense referral button is a waste of time because the referral has to generate $100 revenue in order for you to make $20...most novices never make the $100 mark. I would put something else in that position instead...maybe another ad
Really depends on your site's traffic. It would be foolish to place the buttons on a loans related site or a subject with similarly high CPC. For some lower paying subjects however it can work out nicely. I usually make a few extra bucks a day on firefox and picasa refferals. Never wanted to try adwords or adsense refferals, though. I can't imagine them to work well on general sites, but they might work out well on a webmaster or work at home related site.
These are the revenue you can make with the different Google's referrals products: AdSense: When a user you've referred to AdSense first earns US$100 within 180 days, we'll credit your AdSense account with US$100. Firefox plus Google Toolbar: When a user you've referred to Firefox plus Google Toolbar runs Firefox for the first time, you'll receive up to US$1 in your account, depending on the user's location. Your referral must be a Windows user, who has not previously installed Firefox, in order for you to receive credit. AdWords: When a user you've referred to AdWords signs up and spends US$100 within 90 days, we'll credit your AdSense account with US$20. Pack: When a Windows user you've referred to Pack downloads and installs the product, you'll receive up to US$2 in your account. Picasa: When a user you've referred to Picasa downloads and runs the product for the first time, we'll credit your account with up to US$1. The user you refer must be using Windows and not have previously installed Picasa in order for you to receive credit. Mikejmu you make $20 by an Adwords referral that spends $100 and you make $100 when a referral of Adsense makes their first $100 (only once).
Pack: When a Windows user you've referred to Pack downloads and installs the product, you'll receive up to US$2 in your account. I think pack is worth to do
Well, guess what- I hit my first $100 TODAY! And I specificly signed up for Adsense through a friend's link about 5 months ago... so does it work? Ask her when she gets her check next month! (PS Thank you Lori, of www.FreelanceMom.com for all the friendly tips and advice you shared, I hope the $100 from Google comes in handy!)
Wasn't there a 90 day period to get to the $100 mark?? I have a feeling they changes it to 180 days, not sure though. I used to use "Adsense for Search" on my sites (6 domains). The total search earning was around 0.5% of the content earning so I have removed most search boxes. However, I have kept the referral ads on my sites just in case I get the odd referral that actually joins up, gets off his ass and makes a 100 bucks in time for me to get my referral fee!
Most novices but not all don't make it. The referal buttons are for that little amount which may will take a little of the webpages room, and gain you an easy 100$ at someone elses expense. Bah I say put it on just for that small amount of people who may make that 100$.
I have a tech-related site, and we really push the advantages of using Firefox.. I make about $30-$40 per day in FF referals.. I'm lucky if i break $25 in regualr AdSense earnings.. So for ME and MY site, FF referals are great!
I think FF referals work only for sites specifically related to computer related websites . For others, FF referals are a waste of time IMO.
Before I have seen adsense referral buttons everywhere. But now lots off people are removing them. Three months rule is very tight.
Wow.. thats great! Probably the first time I hear about serious income from firefox referal. I have been trying it on some high traffic(not mine!) sites, but the result had been disappointing!
Well, if you have lots of traffic the search could be option to have because if people do not find what they want on your site they will use the google search.
