Are Add-On domains bad?

My hosting account allows unlimited add-on domains.

Problem is this, Google indexes add-on domains as directories within the main domain.

    For example.

    site:maindomain.com/AddOn1/sitefiles

    and

    site:AddOn1.com/sitefiles

Are both indexed in Google, thus causing duplicate indexing.

    How can this be avoided?

    Hi,

I think a .htaccess will stop this happening although i am not sure as it has never happened to me.

You should take a look into it with a quick Google search.

    Thanks, VPSVolt.

Will .htaccess stop this automatically or I have to right some codes on that file?
