    Hi,

We are going to install SEF in our SMF forum but are unsure if the url:s will be ok.

    *Example:*

This is what a forum thread will look like:
    http://www.foretagande.se/forum/Allmant/6966-offertskrivning-ochamp-prissattning-med-fragetecken/

When someone post a new message, the latest post shown on forum index but this url will show there instead leading to the same thread:
    http://www.foretagande.se/forum/?topic=6966.msg32659&topicseen=1#msg32659 <http://www.foretagande.se/forum/?topic=6966.msg32659&topicseen=1#msg32659>

Is it ok that there are two so different url:s to the same thread? Will Google understand that it´s the same one and not index them both?

    Regards.

I think both of them will be indexed. I have no idea what forum software you use, but Im pretty sure you can find some SEO-plugin for it.

You can tell google that both sites are the same if you use <link rel="canonical" ....>, google has explained it on their blog.

No, this is not ok as it is. Google does not like it when it finds two different URLs to the same content. Ultimately it can cause the page to not be indexed at all.
