use the firefox plugin skipper to save form data so submitting to a directory would take less time than checking its pagerank and either way you are not loosing anything

This is a funny thread. Seeing the so-knowers responding.

You should never market based on PR!

PR does absolutely nothing for keyword position in the search engines!

PR is just a distraction. Focus on content and acquiring links on related sites.

Directories do just that because your link will be in a category related to your site.

The problem with most directories is the internal pages do not get promoted.

A good directory owner will promote these pages, but these sites are few and far in between.

But submitting to a directory cannot hurt you. It can only help.

ok... but would there be a PR dilution if I submit a PR 3 website to a PR 0 website? Based on Google's PR algorithm?

well, it is not harmful wither...even if you submit to PR high directories, it might not be very beneficial for you....so it doesn't make a big difference unless the page where the listing has a good PR. (Usually they have good PR only in the outer pages...

get more directory submissions, it can help in building back links.

but never forget that submiting to PR0 directories can bring you success later, if the directory is good and get higher PR you will get good rank. It happens often even later they became paid and you have link there for free

Your avatar is good, your opinion is partially right.
The PR is rating the website according to google TOS.
It doesn't mean that falling to PR0 is banned from google or something else. This usually means that your website is selling links, buying links or just SUCKS... this is what I saw in my experince
High PR (Over PR5) means older website, reliable and good content with goog number of backlinks.

There is no harm in submitting to them. Some directories which have 0 PR right now may have PR 2 or PR 3. It happens most of time.

That's why Submission to 0 PR Directory is done to in terms of future that the particular directory will have PR 1 in future.

I have one nitch directory that I got in at it's start and now it's grown and they charge $200.00 for a listing. I get a free ride and I get quality traffic. So to me there is value in working that avenue.

The important thing to remember is Google looks at the site relevancy of your backlinks.

Make sure that the directories you submitted your URL(s) have content that are relevant to your website's contents.

They can be useful if they are one way link directories.
