    Arcserve UDP is an advanced backup and replication product for Arcserve Backup, Arcserve d2d, and Arcserve rha, developed for data centers with virtual and physical servers. With Arcserve UDP, backup and restore operations can be performed on an image-based basis using physical or virtual servers without agents or agents. The server has recently attracted attention with its many features that stand out from the competition in terms of backup.

    We will talk about how to do the Microsoft SQL Server Restore process with Arcserve UDP in detail. The following diagram shows the steps to follow.

    Before performing the Microsoft SQL Server restore operation with rcserve UDP, ensure that the following prerequisites are met;
    • Before you can perform a SQL Server Restore operation, you must have a working instance of the Microsoft SQL Server database.
    • Check the compatibility of the operating system, database and internet browser with Arcserve UDP.
    Warnings;
    1. The "Restore to alternative location" option that you will see during the restore process with Arcserve UDP means that you can change the name and file location of the database.
    2. With Arcserve UDP, multiple restore operations can be performed at the same time for different virtual machines. However, it allows only one restore operation on the same virtual machine.
    3. On Windows, only one restore operation can be performed at the same time. If you attempt to start another operation while the restore is in progress, you will receive a warning that another restore operation has been performed and that you should try again later.
    4. For SQL Server Restore with Arcserve UDP, we first login to Arcserve UDP and select "Restore" under the "Tasks" tab in the home page.

    In the window that opens, we select the "Browse Recovery Points" section.

    We choose the location of the SQL Server backups to be restored from the "Backup Location" section. You will then see the restoreable SQL Server backup list. From there, we select the database we want to restore and proceed.

    On the next screen, you will see 3 different options.

    Restore to Original Location: Restore will replace the location where the backup was taken, ie the original file.

    Dump File Only: Restores only the dump files. Dump files are created with timestamp information so that when the software crashes and then crashes, this problem is corrected. Actually, he sees the log function. When this option is selected, any position can be selected and the restore operation can be performed at the desired position.

    Restore to Alternate Location: The most commonly used option in SQL Server restore with Arcserve UDP. It allows restore operation to a desired location except the original location. The requested database is selected from the list, and a new location can be restored with a new database name.

    We click on the "New Database Name" field and set a new name, and after that we use Browse to determine the restore location.

    The last time we go to "Next" again, we start the restore process. After that, we expect the process to finish in proportion to the size of the backup file. We can follow the process from Job Monitor on the homepage.

    After the restoration process is finished, we recommend that you perform the verification process in the last step of the diagram that we specified at the beginning of this article. Validation is to check that the files are available in the relevant location after the SQL Server restore operation with Arcserve UDP and that the relevant database is available on Microsft SQL Server Management Studio. In the following screenshot we see the data base we specified with the new name on SQL Server Management Studio. The restore operation has been successfully completed.
