Archbishop Rowan Williams says that some Muslims don't relate to the British legal system , so adopting parts of Islamic Sharia law would help maintain social cohesion. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7232661.stm
Whatever, are they ready to adopt parts of satanic law, because satanists can't relate to the british legal system either. Laws should be common to all and made by lawmakers IMNSHO
Pakistan-born Bishop of Rochester, the Right Reverend Michael Nazir-Ali said it's "simply impossible" to bring sharia law into British law "without fundamentally affecting its integrity".
I agree that laws should be universal and applied to everyone but apparently there already are jewish courts settling disputes between jews. I don't see the problem of muslims solving the disputes between them using sharia law if all parties involved agree on using a sharia court. I don't agree with giving people a break from rules because of their religious beliefs though. For example I've read that some muslim women medical students refuse to pull up their sleeves when they work. Rules are for everyone, if pulling up their sleeves is against their beliefs they should not go to medical school
What happens when the victim is not a Muslim but the perpetrator of the crime is, which court/law system does that end up under?
I think I clearly said a court like a sharia court should only be applied if all parties involved agree on using that system.
Hes a well known fool that archbishop I remember when he first got his post,he was trying to be "young" by saying he was a fan of bart simpson. complete twit.
