Hello, I run a network of arcades and get 150,000 impressions a day and close to 10,000 clicks. The first week I started I was getting a $4+ eCPM and now i'm getting about a $2 eCPM. I emailed google and they said that it was normal and to try and filter out ads. I'm looking for someone with experience with arcades and adsense that can help me to get a higher PPC. I'm willing to pay for the service.
Arcades don't do too well with adsense in terms of cpc and CTR, especially now that people can't be tricked into clickng the ads.
I know that arcades don't have a high PPC but when your dealing with 10,000 clicks it can be profitable. I'm just trying to get my CPM back to waht it use to be when I first started.
Relax, there is nothing you can do. Google knows that arcades generate a lot of clicks and I'm sure they have probably adjusted your pay outs accordingly. I have an arcade on my vbulletin and that is the message that I received from Google. Don't despair, as there are still a few things you can do. 1) If your site is primarily an arcade, you are going to have to redesign your site so that the arcade is on there as a compliment to the site instead of the main focus of the site. For example, find a niche related to your "broad niche" which could be electronics, computing, gaming, RPGs, MORPGs, or target specific games such as a world of warcraft site, a Halo site a Super Mario Bros site or whatever. However, if you decide to target some specific, you run the risk of having a low conversion. So it is best to keep it broad and go from here. You can maybe focus on electronics and find a way to tie your arcade into your overall website scheme. Eventually, what you will start getting, if all goes as planned, is that your main website will be so keyword rich with a broader niche, that these keywords will affect the Google adsense ads displayed at your Arcade. It happens like this at our forum. This second approach I'm giving you is based on simple human psychology and is theoretical in nature. As such, it does not violate anything because you are not trying to affect Google Adsense, you are trying to affect the human mind and get more clicks from people. Secondly, since you say arcade, I'm guessing you have games that are playable online. So, try to focus on games that make users perform a lot of clicking of the mouse to play the game. The more clicking of the mouse a game has, the better. Notice what colors in the game people are clicking on and then make sure you include these colors in the Google Adsense links. On occassions, I have clicked Google Adsense ads on arcades and I had no idea why. It's as if I just felt compelled to click, it is very scary, but true. This is the effect that you want to develop in your users. Drive the clicks up, no matter how high. Thirdly, put the Google Adsense in the way of the arcade games and the user. You can do this by various ways, but a way we did it at our forum is to that when the arcade page loads up, the first thing you see are Google Adsense Ads (336 x 280). As you might know, Google Adsense ads can be easily confused for Arcade Games by the average user who does not have a clue. So make it an effort to highlight your Google adsense ads and putting them in the way of the gamer's game. What this boils down to is that when a gamer reads a Google Adsense ad that says, "Play free games now" or "Free Games Here", you want them to go to the Google Ad and click on the ads. Who cares if they don't play your Arcade Games. This is not like blending, where you can easily blend colors to make Google Ads look like games. Instead, using this approach, you put the Google Adsense ads in front of the Gamer's face and you begin to somewhat "hide" the actual arcade games. Essentially, you are highlighting the Google Adsense Ads while minimizing the view of the arcade games at your site. I used the 336 X 280 rectangle because those can still be confused for arcade games even if they are not blended into the arcade, they just have a nice looking fun shape. It already looks like a small arcade game monitor, so Google Adsense has already set it up for you to use this shape in the best way possible on your Arcade. Hope this helps, if you have any questions, post on here. The key thing is affecting the mind by focusing on games that make people click to have fun. The psychological theory behind this is classical conditioning where you want to condition in your visitors that clicking the mouse and clicking on your site is fun. Use colors for Google Adsense that are found in games, but don't overdo the colors. Be as subtle as possible and don't tell your members about the changes. Just do them or find a way to sell it so that your changes to make them click are actually done to give them a better gaming experience.
10,000 clicks at $2 CPM = $20 a day? That is 0.002 per click if I am rigth. I used to filter MFA sites but this is the 4º month that I receive at my "July 2007 Optimization Report" the exact optimization tip: "You may be filtering ads that monetize well on your site." They think that I has to unblock all the MFA sites I have in the filter? By the way I have 200 urls filtered in Competitive Ad Filter.
Thanks for the response googledez I will keep all of the in mind. Right now the problem isn't really getting clicks it's just getting my account back to the number I had it at the first week. I tried emailing Google but they weren't that much of a help. 10,000 clicks right now gets me $250-$300 It was getting me $600-$700 last week.
Nice post. I'm trying adsblacklist.com myself now... I'll see how it goes as there's a lot to learn there...
10,000 clicks right now gets me $250-$300 a day right ? and is this 10k uniques a day or 10k clicks on your adsense ads ?
I see what you are saying, but the steps I've outlined above can still help you. For example, we run a forum and our pay outs are low because forums have a low conversion. So what we do is focus on ways of getting people to click the Google Adsense Ads by affecting their mind more so than using Google Adsense tricks. Eventually, we get so many clicks that our low pay out becomes high even if Google decides to smart price us. This is the approach you have to take. If you are getting 10,000 clicks right now, then you have to do something to increase the clicks to maybe 20,000 or more. This way, no matter how your money is adjusted by Google, there is no choice but to give you a large pay out because you have received a lot clicks. Drive up the clicks is the goal, no matter what. Don't settle on 10,000 and don't relax because you have 10,000 clicks a day. Keep working at it always an strive to get more clicks. Your goal while diplaying Google adsense ads to is make as much money as possible not just a few bucks. This approach is ambitious, but rational because you are doing everything in a legal and ethical manner so as to not break the Google adsense terms of service. Google Adsense and the internet always change, so should you... Try new approaches to making money...
ECPM is what you get per 1000 impression,is not what you get per 1000 clicks. So if het gets 150.000 impressions a day at 2 ecpm ,he gets 300 dollar a day.
Try the ad filter and report back here. I recently blocked a whole lot of MFA websites too and I must admit I have noticed a rise in payment from that particular website.
