I have been looking at them , I guess there are 3-4 scripts and you can buy additional games. But is'nt the market saturated with this?
can a new site make any money with all these similar sites around?

IMO it's just a fever. That is a common phenomenon. People start making money, tell others, and those start doing the same stuff... Until the market is over-saturated, and it collapses :)

I've heard both sides of the story. If you have the money and want to give it a try do so. I was told the proxy website market was over saturated but I went for it anyway and I am making money.

internet is too big to get over saturated by almost anything. You can get money from it if you try hard enough. My friend is getting 1k$+ a month from some arcade site, thx to some american kids picking it up and sharing around ;)

You can earn money on everything on the internet as long as you promote it some way.

If you need the arcade script then im selling it cheap from here!

proxies and arcades are not going to be oversaturated... such is teh size of teh inter webz lol

marketing your site is the primary work to do in case of proxies and arcades. I have an arcade website to just test the waters (i'm a noob in this) and its receiving consistent traffic with not so much marketing effort. I just send a mail every week to a fun yahoo group.

so there is no denying that there is still money to be made from arcades and proxies. One thing I'm not sure is whether its perfectly ok according to the adsense terms to include adsense in these kind of websites. especially I'm doubtful about proxies. but I see adsense ads on all the proxies and arcades. though I'm scared that I will get banned :D (I have banner exchange at present in my arcade site)

Yeah; people keep also yepping about free hosts being saturated/not making money :) Same story; internet is growing too fast and too big to be saturated. Most arcades (proxies, free hosts etc) are so bad that it actually makes the cool ones get more 'real members' as they get sick of amateurs. Just make something of quality.

If you setup an arcade site with nice design, quality games and moderate banner ads, I'm sure you will gain some unique or loyal hits.

On the other hand, if your intention of making the arcade site is to help you generate revenue hence you're going to load it with lots of annoying banners, I'm afraid you won't make it big there.

There are lots of arcade sites out there, but most of them are loaded too heavily with banners & pop ups.

If you're making something like this, Miniclip, I don't see any problem with the saturation ;)

    Good luck!

miniclip looks like an expensive solution, and most of the scripts have the same arcade games recently I have noticed more niche type of sites - Adult games, Games for Girls, etc
I am sure that there are ppl out there who have had success with these kind of sites.
Anyone here can sound off on the success of their business?

The thing about starting arcades like miniclip is that you have your own unique games. Hence, if the others want to add your games to their web site, the game itself will link back to yours, boosting the traffic of yours and directly the revenue that you're going to get from your arcade.

It's going to be hard if you want to buy an arcade script + game packs. The games that you have, the others already have and in fact could be more than yours. If you're planning to start such an arcade site (non-unique games), I suggest you to look around for established arcades that the owners want to let go.

    Thanks.

If you are looking for a unique site and have the money for it hire a programmer that can program both your site as well as unique original games for you. Then release a new one weekly. That could get exciting =)

There are many teenagers out there who know Flash programming. Just check out flash communities like flashkit.com and I'm sure it'll be more affordable than paying a freelance programmer to do that for you :D

well aslong as your website grows older no matter if it looks good or not people start loving it by its uptime and people start knowing that there is a website which will let them play any game at any time they are free :d
