How would you market an arcade site? Since Im pretty low on money ATM (waiting for a few checks to come in) I was going to make it from scratch.

    Which script should I use?

    How would you market one.

Is there templates or do I need a design?

If not an arcade what then!

There are LOADS of arcade sites out their (I've even got one!). I suggest you try to find another niche, if not, then prepare to do some heavy work.

As for the script, im currently using GameScript, but they are others out there, but I dont know about the others too much so you might have to research into that.

Once you get your site up, start with the banner exchanges for some starter traffic. If you manage to make your site addictive, you will start to have a constant stream of visitors slowly growing by the day. If you want more - advertise on Myspace - Make a account, get friends, add a cool game you your profile with your link under it and a HTML code, so others can add it easily, and boom, with 500 friends you will have about 50 - 100 visitors a day if you do that right or even more.

    Hope that helps ;)

Well it isn't that much of a profit site, unless you have access to YPN or Adsence. Anything else and the money aint that much. So far ive made about $160, but spent around $350 to get it up and running to where it is now. After along time I will start getting profit but that could be just because i'm running clicksor now (Banned by google, cant use YPN and VCM ripped me off).

Even if you do have access to YPN or Adsence, you wont get that much conversion rate, so you really need big numbers to get the cash you might be looking for.

Then that could work out for you. Good luck with it!

If your looking at something else, I would try looking into writing a blog about a topic. Thats becomming more an more popular and if your successful, you can get a nice amount of profit in the end. It's something im working on and I found it to be easier then running a arcade site and the profits are coming nearer and nearer fast.

I've made the most advanced arcade site ever.

I'm not being modest at all. lol ;)

really, i spent ages on it. It's 100% made for SEO -- original, all CSS, great use of H1 and other SEO techniques from aaron walls ebook.

It also has some other things to make it better.

I'm a flash game maker - so i made a unique game for the site, submited it to newgrounds, and a few other places. That got some good hits and backlinks.

It's not got many backlinks, but i'm building them up.

    Anyway,

all that is getting me 50 uniques a day and 200 hits.

I've not put any ads on yet, as i like to get sites to atleast 1000 uniques first.

I'm just submiting the game now to a few others sites to build up some more backlinks

I'll let you know how it goes snapplekid13, but if you want some advice, try what i've done.

    OR

Easiest way is to just get a template, upload some games (there is a massive pack of 3000 games FOR FREE in one section on here), and then get backlinks, swap links, do the usual stuff they tell you to do on here.
It does work -- i've got one arcade site that gets over 1000 uniques a day (2000 hits), and earns me about $10 a day -- which isnt bad for some arcade sites ;)

    hope this info helps.

In my opinion you should stay away from arcades. They have very low click prices. If i were you i would do some keyword research, find a keyword with about 2000, check competition on google make sure you can rank high in serps, set up a wordpress blog, write 5 pages of content about the keyword, and start building links. Then repeat. I have sites earning a couple dollars a day off 20-30 highly targeted unique.

When i first joined these forums i bought an arcade for 100 bucks. After a month or so i realized that it was a bad decision. Total i made back from the site was about 30 bucks including adsense and me selling it. You live and you learn. Good luck.

Making it from scratch means more towards writing your own scripts and not using them of the shelve. The arcade section is well over crowded, but money can still be made. You just have to put much more work into it than what you would have before when trying to get traffic.

What about myspace traffic? Does it convert well with arcade sites? I mean is it permanent traffic ?

HI well arcade can vari. i earn arund $5 everyday on my arcade site with around 1000 uv daily.

atm it just an arcade but im building on it making new features adding a froum a blog and loads other stuff to get some content and more of a community.

also with arcade sites and if your on google adsense the competeiv filter is a must to stop u showing the low paying ads.

    good luck mate
