    Hi Im just wondering whether it is legal to link to other arcade website's for the games hosted there?

    e.g.

    I take a link like
    www.blah.com/game.swf

    And use that link on my site to show that game?

    What do you mean by link exactly? If you it is just a normal link to a page on their site you should have no problems. If you could clarify your question though that might be useful.

    Right ok i'll try and clarify my question...

    Just say there was a game on Miniclip.com(Very large arcade website)
    that I wanted to see on my arcade site.

    So I take www.miniclip.com/randomgame.swf and place that link on my site,so they can play that game on my site.
    Without downloading anything.

    So my question is whether that's allowed?

    Thanks in advance

    Most arcade site do provide embed code.
    Instead of linking straight to the gamefile without giving back anything, you should use the embed code so that the game will juice up the stats on the arcade site.

    The embed code is something like this:

    <a href="http://www.arcademag.net/">Free Online Games | Free Arcade Games | Free Games Online</a><br /><object width="550" height="400">
    <param name="movie" value="http://www.arcademag.net/arcade/epic.swf">
    <embed src="http://www.arcademag.net/arcade/epic.swf" width="550" height="400">
    </embed>
    </object><br><a href="http://www.arcademag.net/">Free Online Games | Free Arcade Games | Free Games Online</a>

    HTML:

    EDIT
    I went to that site and saw below each games, there is "Post to my blog/website". For an example, they provide embed code for each games they had. And from their TOS, they explained everything about your question.

    Miniclip usually provides coding so you can link to their files, but you should be wary of other sites. Always make sure you read their legal statement or contact the webmaster if there's nothing that says anything about linking. The reaoning is, if they do not allow it, then you are hotlinking. Basically stealing their badwidth, or maybe unique content that is exclusive to their site.

    If there is a link code and you leave everything intact you should be in the sweet. Linking directly to the files however is a real issue of ethics more then anything else.. I'd go for the embed option in this case
