    Boy you like discussing! :)

    Wrong.

Move it and then next week there are 300 new newbies who didn't get to withness the 'example'. Move all their threads (in an attempt to set an example like you suggest) and the week after there are 300 newbies again.

Loop the above 52 times for every week of the year, incrementing the number of newbies slowly but steadily and you can see the moderator's nightmare.

Of course it's ideal for the post starter to get a PM with full explanation of the FAQ and how it related to their post. Of course it would be ideal for the thread starter to keep the thread and just have it moved by nice mods.

But this world isn't ideal and just like running a business you have to make choices, make compromises every now and then.

Posted in wrong forum + not enough post to have it in the right one = thread deleted.

    End of the boring story.

If it makes you feel any better, I even e-mailed the guy/girl the likely solution to his/her indexing issue. Courtesy of a DP mod who now spent 1 hour on this issue, for free and handed out free consultation on the website in question.

Can we give it a rest now?

This is the reason I enjoy this forum. The no nonsense, down to earth attitude from the staff. No sugar coating. If it's in the rules, it's in the rules. Somebody doesn't like it?

    Whatever. :D

i think T0PS did the right thing. OP should've read the FAQ. mods are strict, yes, but that's the very reason why this forum gets mentioned in NYTimes. Quality matters.
