Approximately 94,000,000 Americans are on the internet everyday and 85% of those people are using Local Search Engines to find businesses in their area for products and services.

There are around 50 local search engines other then google yahoo msn etc

QUestion is what are those local search engines?

Can you list those 50 local search engines here..

Looks like we are doing something wrong to work on google only ..

94,000,000 isnt a small number.. and 85% of it also a good amount of ppl..

(i just read this data somewhere on a call center forum)

99% of people use google. Maybe it was referring to searching, for example, in australia only.

I seriously doubt this data. What's the source? It doesn't match with the data on monthly search engine market share.

It depends on the market. For example:

Lots of parents of young children use aol or msn.

Many shoppers are inclined to use msn.

Many accounting and financial types use yahoo.

In fact, there are markets where showing up in yahoo is as important as Google.

I think search engines will start catering to specific audiences. For instance, mom.com (fake name) will cater to young mothers with toddlers and infants and bring up results more relevant to this market.

Well when you think about it; if I was looking for someone to paint my house I would use yellow pages to search for someone in my area. I would then browse google to look up there competition and see if they have any reviews and what not.

    Thats just me though.
