Approaching Potential Advertisers

My blog got its 125x125 advertisers because I went up to them and asked for them to buy it. You see, I actually emailed people, and said, 'Want to buy my ad space?'

    And guess what. It worked.

You see, unless you are a big blog, advertisers won't go looking for you, you'll have to go looking for them.

Is that technically considered spam? I am looking for advertisers too but I don't want to send unwanted emails to people.

Not necessarily. If you are not sending out hundreds of emails to random people, and do it in a spammy fashion, then yes, it is spam.

However, most websites have emails posted for contacting. If they didn't want emails, they wouldn't offer an email address. If they say no, as long as you do not keep bugging them, there is nothing wrong with that.

Spam is unsolicited e-mail, but not all unsolicited e-mail is spam. Fun huh? The line between them is fine but it is there. What the OP did wasn't spamming, it was direct e-mail and it is a fantastic marketing technique. Good job Guthix121!
