Buy a domain name that you can develop. And if you like a domain name that is already taken, try checking a Whois database http://www.who.is to see if the domain is expiring soon. If it is you might want to try backordering the domain name with GoDaddy.com When you backorder, you'd be the first to catch the domain if it does end up expiring (one of a limited few backorder servers that are purging the registrar). However, there is no guarantee when you backorder a domain that you will be the first to catch it, GoDaddy.com is an excellent source for domains! Yet, if you don't catch the domain you can always move your backorder to another domain name until you do catch one that you like [within a reasonable time/i.e. A year or so].
