Appraisals - I appreciate your advice

    Good day to you;

I guess I won't be the only one who has bought far more domains than he actually needs?

The truth is after my main news portal took off (cannazine.co.uk - and became almost a full-time job), I just don't have the time to further develop the following domain names.

So currently they're just sitting there doing nothing, although one or two of the domains have websites on them, I tend to use my spare domains when I need to try out a new PHP script, or store a database back-up where I can use it.

So I would very much appreciate any appraisals on the following domain names, and if anyone sees anything they fancy please feel free to shout up with an offer.

http://truckinhell.co.uk - Apparently you can take the boy out the truck, but you cant get the truck out the boy. Having spent the last 17 years or more carrying freight from the UK to Europe in a 44t truck I still have diesel running around my veins. This site was initially built to appeal to the industry which supports transport and logistics here in the UK.

As well as employment agencies, the scope for some affiliate sales on this site, direct to truck drivers, is really very good.

http://boardjam.net - Initially bought for my partners oldest son, who is into skateboarding and surfing. But he soon got bored when things like config and .htaccess files started 'breaking themselves', causing him grief and aggro.

He didn't want to learn how to put it right so its sat on the shelf for over 12 months, only being used by me as a testing server.

http://joomlaguide.co.uk - I do the majority of my work with Joomla and although I have used pretty much everything from wordpress, to mambo, to drupal, to Joomla, I always end up back doing what I know best. As such I figured I had learnt so much over the last couple of years, I could probably help people out with some technical advice. Joomla Guide was born as a result, but alas I just don't have the time to do it justice. This could be a big old project, with great adsense potential if its executed properly as Joomla is getting truly massive, as is the open-source industry which supports it.

http://mizz-minx.co.uk - is pretty much ready to go as it stands for the sake of a tweak here and there. This website can come with about £200 worth of stock items, (all of which are actually on the website), ready for an immediate launch on ebay. This was my partners pet project, but between me and you I think she suffers the same "apathy issues" as her off-spring. Lots of work went into this. I mean loads of work, as we populated the database and website with top quality images and sales items. Almost fully a weeks work.

Incidentally, the company that sells the stock will sell you a website which (if I say so myself) isn't a patch on this website, and for that they charge a grand flat rate. Obviously if you're interested in this I'll make sure you have the catalog, the price lists etc, which are all in an excel file on my computer. A business in a box this one.

Revenue's earned so far? Around £500 via ebay and a few private sales.

As I have the database and file structure safely backed up, there's no reason I couldn't create a few of these sites under different names if anyone is interested.

http://myliverpoolfc.co.uk - Ah yes my beloved Liverpool FC.

If you're not a footballing afficianado you may not know that Liverpool met Chelsea in last years Champions league final. In the run up to the the quarter, semi and the final itself, I bought the Liverpool domain above, just because I liked the name and I figured Liverpool would be in the news a lot in the run up to the final.

    Then I had another brainwave.

http://mychelseafc.co.uk/ - Yup i bought the both of them. But here's the thing. Its looking like Liverpool and Chelsea could well meet AGAIN in the Champions League sometime over the next few weeks, and between now and the end of the season, these two teams are going to be "nip & tuck" not only trying to catch Man United, but also in trying to out do each other.

Upshot is, both Liverpool and Chelsea (complete with brand new Dutch manager Guus Hiddink) are due a lot of news coverage between now and the end of the season, so between them these two websites could prove a nice little investment.

I made a start on the Liverpool site to give an idea of the concept I had in mind, complete with monetization from adsense, amazon, plus a few affiliates I picked up along the way. Its very easy to update, could even be automated, and the design is like any other CMS meaning for the sake of changing the template you can give your Liverpool FC portal an entirely new look in just a few mouse clicks.

I would be interested in your best guestimates at valuing these websites/domains.

If anyone IS interested in any of them, I'll throw in 3 months free cPanel hosting as well, so basically all I need to do is give you some log in details and an FTP account and you're away with the website or domain of your choice, exactly how you see them today.

If I can answer any other questions I'm happy to oblige.

Please take for granted no revenue and no traffic, so if you do see some traffic its a bonus, as opposed to a promise.

    Happy trails

    Dog
