Hi Friends, Long time I have posted on DP, Miss those old days when I started with DP, seeing my ID you might be wondering how old but due to some data loss in forums my ID was vanished, had to create a new ID. I bought www.bumbleupon.com few months back with a vision that I will make it big in the bookmarking sector, due to my prior engagements of distribution and managing Kitchen18 Appliances portal could not spend much time on BumbleUpon though I have a feeling that this name can make it big. I had installed PLIGG on it and had done few generic marketing on it when I had bought this, for which I am getting decent traffic on the site. Kindly provide your views on the Domain name and the valuations of it and also the best way and place to sell it. Cheers,
It's an interesting name that's true, although I would be very careful doing anything too closely related to Stumbleupon. In fact, best use would probably be a parody related site with definitely an emphasis on humorous links and such. Probably does need some work to make a decent site on it and I think that is the only way you will get a decent return from your investment. As is, unbranded and with a fairly boring looking pligg site, I think you might get mid $xx for it. (unless there is traffic and/or revenue)

Number of visitors a month is very very very low but you have really impressive Alexa rank which sets automated valuation tools such as http://mcjonline.com/www/bumbleupon.com very high. However, valuation comes down to revenue and I guess you are not making a lot from 2000 u/v visitors a month if you are making money at all from this website. I would do some extra promotion for this website around the webmaster forums because this is where the main target audience for this website is. Get at least 30k u/v a month and you will sell this website in no time. Right now it is not worth a lot because basically is website that supports spammers.
You installed Pligg, that killed it. There are 458565676 spammed to death Pligg sites out there and growing daily. Pligg is boring. A nice name, but needs a better script and to make it more interesting that a pile of junk SEOs will spam to death. Forget about webmasters, forget about SEOs. Make something for an audience. There still are some social bookmarking sites out there with value and are a bit more interesting. Do your research.
What script u recommend if not pligg ?? mcjonline.com gives valuation of a Lakh dollar, I need just 10% of it If any potential buyer out there, I would be interested in selling it off too..
You can use pligg but make sure to customize it to make it different from millions of other pligg website. Create a nice looking design, add captcha, custom forms etc to avoid spammers. Such scripts out of the box are worth nothing but you can make a money if you know what you are doing with them.
