A developer has made a claim that the good folks at Apple have stole his software and made it their own.

Here we go with more of the who stole whos OS and the who copied who stuff.

I should have become a pirate, maybe I can copy Shawn. But I will need one of those M$ strap on Brains first.

Where is Uncle Bill when you need him? :D :D

Yes this is an interesting claim. It all depends on if Apple was developing this technology before Konfabulator came out or not. I can see how it's a stolen idea, but, like i said, we don't know who was working on it first. Either way, Dashboard in OSX will be sweet!

Personally I think Apple should work directly with some of the most popular shareware to incorporate it into their OS. :D

Just another case of "MEAN BUSINESS" in a dog eat dog business world, grab the money now, explain it in a court of law later if someone has the money and lawyers to sue you.

Thats business, "MEAN BUSINESS"; make an honest dollar, that is for working folks, business executives don't live by that stuff.

Yeah, I get it now, so it is a fruit like an apple, I thought that it could be a new software like Tiger, Safari or any of the other wacky names.

Banana sounds like a good software to me.

Much discussion has gone across the internet in the past few days and someone has finally wrote an article comparing the two. Daring Fireball put them head to head and pointed out a few good points. Like the fact that Apple experimented with this technology years ago! Granted the success of Konfabulator may have started Apple's design team to start the widgets back up, but it looks like the idea has always been there. And the best thing I've heard today is that Dashboard gets designed with HTML and CSS using the same rendering engine as Safari and programmed with JavaScript! That's great since it opens up the possibilities to CSS2, DOM2, JS, HTML, XMLHttpRequest, Flash, QuickTime, Java, and more. You really don't need to learn a whole new language to build a widget just use the same web programming language that you know today!

Twister sounds like you should be running Shawns Mac Subject here at DP.

Too bad there is no MAC Subject heading at DP, cus you Shawn and Mushroom would all live in those threads.

No one left to give me trouble since you guys would always be in the MAC Threads. :D

And for the record, I'm not exclusively Mac either. I run Macs, Windows machines, Red Hat, Sun and FreeBSD machines. Each has it's strengths and weaknesses. There is no one operating system that's best for everything.

For the record, I use a low memory, XP personal edition, M$/emachines cheap box and use ASP's for everything else.

Unless you have a building that has a secure room that is temperature controlled, you are wasting time setting up a data center.

So I will always use ASP's since I do not have the know how or ability either of you do.

Mushroom, I am sorry I insulted your religion :D

Now do i have to be on the record to? ;) Ok. I run a G4 450 at work and a G4 667 Powerbook at home. I never leave without my iPod and I've never owned a PC. I do, however, have W95 and W98 running on my Powerbook for the hell of it. I've never used LINUX, Red Hat, or whatever else there is because I've never been given the opportunity. I also wouldn't mind a nice PC to play on, but I'm never going to leave my AWESOME mac platform. And I will jump at any chance to downplay IE, Windows or Office because I believe people use them because they are there or they are cheaper when, in reality, it makes things harder and more expensive. A lack of knowledge makes Microsoft bigger. But that's just my ramblings and personal feelings. You can do whatever you want. :)
