So what do we think of this rather stylish bit of kit?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7188849.stm

I was interested in whether they were shipping this with a solid state hard drive but according to the Apple blurb it's an optional extra:

64GB is pretty good I think that I'd go for this option if I was going to buy one... which I'm not because I don't have that kinda money to throw around!!

Yeah just saw it yesterday, very good specs, too bad it doesn't have optical drives though, you need to buy it separately for 99$. But the fact that it fits inside an envelope, woah. Thinnovation!

Yeah I'm not really a Mac lover but the fact it's SO slim is a real attraction... I'd love a Linux version and by the time I can afford one they'll be on the market :)

That's why I think most people will go for the 64GB Solid state drive - access times will be amazing as will the battery life... must be a lot more that the 5 hours they've posted?

Ah don't you hate that!? You're happy with your fancy bit of kit and they come out with a shinyer model!

It's nice if you have the spare cash or need something super portable, otherwise there's no point for what you get with it for the cost.

Apple products are amazing :D This has too small of a HDD for me and the option external optical drive and price tag make the thinness not worth it IMO for me. I can get a sick iMac for 1800 with 4GB ram, 500GB HDD 20" widescreen monitor :D I'll stick with that ;)

Technology: the smaller, the more expensive. That's the rule I guess. That is for gadget freaks like me, but I don't have enough extra money yet, so I'll stick with my old school Pavilion. Haha. Still, Mac ftw!

I never let my credit card touch Apple laptops. For the price vs what you get, the laptops stink compaired to da kool iMacs!!!!

The Apple MacBook Air only had 5 gig more hard drive space than my iMac that I got about 5 years ago!!!!!!!!

As a wise man once said...

Two price options!!!!! For da price, da Apple MacBook Air stinks!!!!!!!! Get a measly .2 more GHZ and 16 LESS gigs of space, for....$1,299 more!!! er, who was da screwball that picked da prices!!!!!!!

Did we touch a nerve there Nintendo? ;)

IMHO I think 64GB is more than enough (I'm gonna get slaughtered for saying it...) because I've had a 40GB HD in my laptop - it's three-years old and I've still not filled it!
