It is mainly due to the fact that Microsoft has not given any blockbuster innovative product to the people since last many years. All they have managed to introduce in last couple of years is the crappy updates to their earlier programs! Regards, RightMan
I agree completely. iPad has its market, but I'm not in that target. I'm a *man* (and power user) who wouldn't get caught dead with a Mac anything. My daughter hates my Droid. She says it's to heavy. Too heavy! It's 6oz. I'm all for giving G my business. I've been dealing with M$ since the early days of MS Dos and can't wait until the day that I can get them totally out of my life. Well, maybe I'll keep the Zune.
haha, yea I've gotten the same about my M-droid phone, damn thing is not even heavy....but, OMG, it's an oz. heavier then iphone I was looking around the local markets, and in cn there are already iPad replicas with android out haha
Okay Buddy then what the heck is this? You're the one skewing words around to imply that one company is worth more. Next time think at least 3 times before you write.
It's a better buy because it's better off, not because of market capitalization. That's what I meant by that. I didn't find I had said that because I looked back over my responses to you. Again, look up market cap in any financial dictionary and you'll see what I mean.
If you ignore everything that is over-priced, hyped up garbage, the apple tree would have never been planted. I've said it before, and ill say it again. It amuses me how you always read an article instantly you are an expert on the field.
I have issues with both companies, but I don't think "equal" applies to the economy in that sense. There are more issued involved than shown in the stock market, and if I had to bet on which company has more economic clout, so to speak, I wouldn't hesitate to choose Microsoft. Personally, innovation isn't difficult when you have billions of dollars and thousands of employees. As far as I've seen, Microsoft hasn't put much effort into competing with Apple. Given that Steve Jobs is committed to "family-friendly" and "non-pornographic" applications, I wonder what Microsoft is thinking. That mistake on Jobs' part when placed alongside how pathetic the iPad is from a design and technological perspective, maybe Microsoft is sitting back waiting for the right opportunity. If you like the iPad, that's fine, but it's incredibly similar to the iPod Touch, and it's not worthy of being called revolutionary. That term should be reserved for things like the DVD and Computers themselves. The iPad will not propel advancements in technology like a "revolutionary" idea does. It will have a big influence, but I fail to see what's spectacular about it. The iPhone was revolutionary, I would say - as was the Ipad. Or whatever company product the idea was stolen from, if you want to credit the origin. My thoughts when seeing the iPad after Apple's successes with Leopard, iPods, and the iPhone are of disbelief. Comparatively speaking, the iPad is a huge failure. The economics is what they care about, though, and it succeeded mostly due to marketing.
I don't have to. The market does. As of today, Microsoft $25.75, more than 3 points below its 50-day average and its 200-day. Apple $255.20, more than 5 points above its 50-day and almost $50 above its 200-day. Apple's price trends up. Microsoft's trends down to sideways (for a decade). Which is a better buy?
At least I read. You, apparently, don't since you offer nothing to contradict. And besides, reading, I own a company of 28 employees. I'm a programmer. I create ecommerce web sites. I practice what I read about. btw, that over-priced, hyped garbage, as you call it, has been number one with Consumer Reports in usability and reliability in almost all categories (if not all) for 4-5 years.
In what sense? There is nothing to think about or question. Market cap is market cap and it's well defined and Apple surpassed Microsoft in market cap. If you wish to argue with me, the Wall Street Journal, Reuters, CNN, Nasdaq News, Newsweek, Time, etc., all who reported on this, then I think you need to rethink things. Apple has more cash than Microsoft, too. That mistake on Jobs' part when placed alongside how pathetic the iPad is from a design and technological perspective, maybe Microsoft is sitting back waiting for the right opportunity.[/quote]4 million sold, I believe. We own one. You don't, obviously. If you did, you wouldn't say that. Are we going OT here? Buy one. You'll see. 4 million sold in two months is a failure? Name one product that succeeded on this scale with no marketing. Name one company that doesn't care about the "economics" of a product they sell. Get real. I said it before. My son completely eliminated his backpack and only carries his iPad to school for every class. He takes notes on it, does research, etc. He walks, talks, and breathes with that thing in his hand. He goes nowhere without it. We own an iPad so that's the facts. You don't so you're stating an opinion on something I dont' know you have even held in your hand.
congratulations, but you seem to be assuming I myself do not own my own company. I do (mind you i dont employee 28 people), and I am also an application and web developer. But i can see right through your post, anyone who is in the IT field would know mac is, indeed, an over-priced hyped-up piece of crap. Want a computer with lower chance of being infected with viruses? Download a FREE linux OS, you dont need to spend $2k for a brand name. Ipods, iphones, ipads are all hyped up products, there are plenty of other brands offering the same thing + more... Btw, i also own an ipod i bought 4-5 years ago for $500... It does nothing more then the average $100 mp3/mp4 player.
When I worked at Silicon Graphics, we used Macs for everything. They must have owned thousands of those things. No matter where you were, you plug it in and were connected to the network and could do anything. Same is true today, I believe. I don't know. I don't own one. If it's over-priced/hyped-up crap, why does CR rate it above all other computers 5 years running? Why is it so heavily used in the entertainment/publishing/graphics industry? If ipods/ipads/iphones are just hype, why are there more used than any other (till Android recently) and far, far more than any Microsoft equivalent? Why are so many people willing to pay that much for one? Why do more college students use Macs than Windows? I do better than that. I run FreeBSD. But most people can't/won't do either of those. But wait! OSX is certified Unix! Linux can't make that claim. Yeah. Everybody wants a Zune. What's with this "hype" thing you talk about anyway? Who's doing the hyping? Are you claiming Apple's ad budget is more than Microsoft's? I don't see paid Apple reps visiting forums to promote their products like Microsoft does on this board and others. How many calls do you make on that mp3 player? What kind of apps do you run? Do you just make up stuff as you go along? I don't have the same phone I had 4-5 years ago but you're still using yours? Great product, eh?
as of now apple is better than microsoft but i dont think apple share will rise high anymore because to do so they would have to surpass their ipod-iphone glory which is really hard to happen.
Apple rules! No adware, spyware, viruses... regular updates automatically over the web... no system crashes... I could go on...
