Hi appleites, I am ready to get a new computer and it's been a long time since I've owned an apple. I'm thinking about buying one but I want to get an idea of how far Apple's have come in being able to "talk" with other non-apple PC's. I'm specifically interested in sharing music and audio related stuff between myself and any PC users I will have to deal with online. Can anyone enlighten me on Apple-to-PC compatibility progress. Is it really an issue anymore? And, as a side question, are Apple's really immune to crashing and viruses as their commercials imply? That would be great if they were, of course, but I'm not sure how true that is. Thanks.
You can do everything you stated, and Yes yes yes to the other questions. Apples rule You should ask Shawn for more info, he owns a mac.
I'd go with the mini to get your feet wet. It is cheap, powerful and can boot Windows natively as it has a duo core intel processor. Here is how I got mine home:
Go to Apples site and check out the new Mac Pro Desktops... Then go to DELL's site and configure a similar Workstation and compare the prices for what you get... Oops it's been done here New Mac Pro a bargain?... You might not need that much Horse Power but it's a mean machine and from all the sites posting about OS X Leopard there is alot of Cool things going on and networking with Windows Machines should be nearly if not "Painless"... Prolly Painless.. You might ask, yes I'm a PC guy from way back but I have used both over 20+ years and Mac's are just cool and easy to use... Your best bet is to find an Apple Store near you or a reseller or a friend who has one and just go and play for a few hours and see what you think... You can still use Windows XP on a Mac with "Bootcamp", or one of the other options like Parallels as far as Video Games Or Transgamings "Cider" has come a long way to get Windows games on the Mac's...
