Appearing and disappearing - is this G Dance?

My site is about one month old but already got some pages indexed by Google (but only a few pages).

Now I tried some experiment and tried to rank well for a non-competitive phrase (about 150.000 results on Google) for which I created a page on my site two weeks ago.

Only 3 days later I ranked somewhere on first page on msn (which is not too interesting for me). But few days later it disappeared (???).

Yesterday Googlebot visited my site and a few hours ago I checked and suddenly ranked 3rd on Google. Later I checked again and this page wasn't even indexed anymore. Few minutes ago same thing happened again. 3rd rank, then gone again.

Is this Google Dance? If it is, why are those pages not only disappearing from top rankings but also from the whole index?
And how long could this take?

    Sorry for this newbie question.

Google Dance currently doesn't exist, but your problem is quite normal, cause you site is new. What is happening to you is you are using different datacenters very time you have a look. Get links and give it time and you'll have better results.

Different datacenters indeed, but this has nothing to do with getting more links, as it just takes time for the new site to spread out on all DC's.

    OK. Thanks.

So if I rank high in some datacenters (while not being listed at all in others) does that mean it's likely to achieve a good "stable" ranking?

This is very normal for new sites, getting indexed and deindexed. It will settle down when Google becomes familiar with your site.
