Today I installed a new application calld VMWare. I didn't run the program, I only installed it, so for all I know it may not have anything to do with my problem, but I just thought I should mention that in case someone was aware of some conflict. Suddenly Apache (or something) isn't working. I host a couple websites on my computer. -my IP hasn't changed -my DMZ is still setup properly -I go into the XAMPP control panel and stop then start Apache -I went into services.msc and made sure Windows Firewall was off -I even went into my DNS page for the domains (godaddy) and made sure the @ record still pointed to my IP. But no one is able to load my pages. (not even me) I really have no clue at this point what could have changed. I've tried rebooting and that didn't fix anything. People can't even connect to my filezilla server.. everything acting as though my IP changed, but it didn't.
You pretty much answered your own question. VMWare is a virtualization software. Odd are, it messed with your network configurations. Have you tried removing it?
Depending on which version of vmware there is a tomcat webserver that can be installed when using different versions of vmware. The web interface is used for managing virtual machines on the host system. Why you installed vmware is unbeknownst to me but if you want to use VMware or need a sys admin with lots of experience with Windows, Linux, Xen and Vmware PM me. As RHS-Chris said if you changed the networking configuration in vmware it might have created a virtual bridge that is messing up your networking on the host system.
