Apache status - Is this normal?

Hi,
I am noticing apache status from last 1 week its getting high day by day currently I have

Top Process %CPU 14.5 /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -DSSL
Top Process %CPU 12.1 /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -DSSL
Top Process %CPU 9.7 /usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -DSSL


so is this normal? I mean is there anything to worry about?

 

I don't think that is a problem. If your sever is slowing down, try using the top command to see what your load is. Anything over 2 and you most likely have a problem.

Ok thanks so there is nothing to worry about..

 

check the duration of that http process been run. If it is hovering around for very long, this could be due to bad scripting on one of the sites.. you should kill it.

 

Today Apache stop working and my server was down for few minutes as there was some problem, Thanks to my HOsting providers they fixed it and its up now...

 

Good for you. I believe they receive complaint from other clients too before acting on it.
