Ok first off I am a complete noob when it comes to Apache and PHP. I am taking another web dev class this coming semester and I got my text book and figured I would try working ahead. At any rate the book recommended installing WAMP which I did. Then the book goes on to explain how to create php documents which are fine and I did that and put them in the www folder. Then it says to upload to the file server. Ok so I emailed my instructor and he said he will have his own server for us students to upload to and so I won't have to worry about WAMP....but....I am a geek and I want to know about WAMP. So right now what I did was have WAMP running and I created a folder in the www directory. So when I type in either localhost or my ip that I have portforwarding port 80 I can see the wampserver screen that shows things like Server Configuration, Tools, Your Projects, Your Aliases. Under Your Projects I can see the folder that I created in the www directory. Sorry this is so long but I wanted to give a rundown of what I have done so far step by step. So my instructor didn't have time to explain to me how to go about setting up ftp access so people can access my WAMP server, semester hasn't started yet and he's busy doing other things....so I am here at your mercy to explain to me what I need to change or setup in the most easy way possible to grant people access to be able to connect using something like Filezilla where they can see the www directory and folders and files in it, as well as upload files to it. Uploading isn't necessarily a need but it would be nice. My main thing is although the instructor said I don't need to worry about it, I really do...because as a geek I am sure you all are the same. You get something new, or a problem and you don't quit until you figure it out. Again, sorry this is long but I would greatly appreciate any help possible. BTW I am a noob to Apache, PHP but not to computers themselves.
I really had intention to reply and help, but sorry I don't have time to read all of this to find out what is your question
Sorry basically my question is being a new guy to Apache, and using WAMP how do I make it so people can use Filezilla or some FTP client to connect to my server.
Thank you...that makes sense Sorry I just started with Apache and WAMP today and still learning. The instructor sent me Golden FTP server. You know of it, or recommend any other good free ones?
I actually have my own website as well that allows apache mysql php and stuff but I have no clue how to set that up yet..otherwise I would have done that. I have been googling all day before I came here, but never found exactly what I was looking for. I do like this site though, many forums for varied topics. Thanks again!
