Hello! I know that there's a limitation of 10 concurrent connections in XP Pro. But does it only apply to built-in IIS or any web server software installed, like Apache? Please, if you also could provide a link to a MS document or a book or any kind of source for your answer. That's because on the Internet opinions vary and I want to find a definite answer.
Well with XP itself, it was not designed to function like a server. The hardware standards that were used in computers built with XP and no where close to the hardware used on Linux Servers for instance. The 10 concurrent connection limits is really just set by the hosts file and the firewall in XP. There are ways to change this limit, but I cannot give out this information as my business is a Microsoft Platinum member and I would loose my license. Your best bet to be honest, if you still want to use a windows based server is to purchase the actual Microsoft Windows Server OS or you could even put Windows 7 on the machine. Windows 7 as well allows unlimited concurrent connections as long as your firewall is setup correctly.
