Apache Keeps taking all the memory

So I basically moved my virtual server from one provider to another. Previously it ran great on a 256MB RAM... but i increased it to 512 with the new host (Rackspace cloud). It kept crashing.... I then increased it to 1024MB ram and its still crashing.

I don't know how to troubleshoot, but something ain't kosher here. Any pointers?

I'd appreciate some help here... I just increased to 2GB ram and still had to restart it 4 times...

You should check apache error logs, Also verify your server kernel if its have any errors. Try to execute dmesg in your SSH and check any errors.

Please show results from "ps auxww" and "cat /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf |grep -v '#'"

Are you sure it's apache? It might be mysql as well. Please make sure to optimize your running services properly. You can post your current settings here so that we can help you further more.

Is the apache config the same? Same linux distro, versions of apache and everything else?
Did the memory usage get allocated straight away, or does it go up after a while?
What do you mean that Apache keeps crashing? Is it simply inaccessible or, or does the service completely die?
Are you getting more traffic, or perhaps more "dodgy" traffic, anything suspicious in access or error logs?

You might want to install mod_status, or some form of monitoring, to see what exactly is happening.
