Apache and Server CPU performance

    Hello,

We run a rather medium size site, about 4000 pages, with simple PHP applications. One of them is a thumb_nail generator (phpThumb) which seems to be reason to the situation below. The generator is used for a newsletters application.

Recently our system administrator mentioned that Apache is consuming much of the server's CPU power. I will be looking into the thumb_nail generator and try to tweak the way it generates and saves thumbs more efficiently, but I would like to know if the performance (Was going to attach the prstat text file of size 400K but the forum is not allowing it!) should really be a concern. I understand it could affect the website's loading speed, but is there anything else major that might get affected?

The CPU usage, for most cases, was below 10%, for the rest of the cases, it was between 10-22% over an interval of 20 minutes measured every second.

    Thanks in advance,

    Tamam
