Hello All, I am trying to upgrade apache 2.0.58 to 2.0.63 on Solaris 10. I know that installing it straight for the first time is easy task of setting your environment and running the "configure" command which creates the make file and then running the "make" and "make install" command. However, upgrading apache from an already configured 2.0.58 would seem to need more planning. A. Do I need to make a copy of original httpd.conf? B. Do I need to save any modules? C. If I am running Weblogic 8.14 or 8.16 with apache 2.0.58, would i need any Apache plugin for the apache 2.0.63? ( I know that from upgrading from weblogic 8.14 to 9.2, apache plugin is required) but I dont want to bring the Weblogic into the mix here. D. Do I need to save any conf files? Any help from one of you gurus will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Seyamak
Save all apache confs, includes. yes, backup your modules just in case. Not sure on the weblogic, ask on there mailing list or support forums. yes, backup your conf files. I suggest apache 2.2.X as its got a few issues resolved, easier on solaris 10.
Thank you for your reply. This is going to sound a little stupid but where are the modules? Which specific modules should I backup? I know where the conf files are and I also know that when I run the "apachectl -l", it would give me the list of complied modules but which modules should I specifically be concerned to back up?
I am sorry...I think I found out what you meant. I see the "include" and "module" folder right in front of me. I appreciate your feedback.
