I am trying not to get in trouble by copy and pasting news stories

This is a news site I have seen using all sorts of news feeds and they do host the full story http://www.haiti-info.com

I found them on Google News when I search for Haiti
I would like to get listed in Google news but I don't want to be sued for stealing AP News

my site featuring the same topic Haiti but I live in the U.S. so I have to follow U.S. laws

Has anyone ever used AP Digital or Valeo IP?
    http://www.apdigitalnews.com/
    http://www.valeoip.com/

I would like to know how much it would cost for AP stories on Haiti to reprint on my website? Avg cost per story?

I've been trying to look for the fees for doing something like this to keep my site out of legal trouble.

As long as I know, you can freely quote less then half the article (but no more than 500 characters) as long as you give credit to the original source and the article is news (not an essay)

The copyright doctrine of "fair use" allows you to post extracts for illustrative purposes, but not the full story.
