Im haveing an odd day today with results. I am finally on the first page on google right accross all datacenters acording to mcdar for one of my top keywords (result 8-9). Although from my tool bar or google homepage Im on the second page? Then somehow Im the 4th result on AOL but I cant find those results in any google datacenter on mcdar. I though AOL results where google results?
try clearing your cookies and signing out of google if you are signed in. i'm not too familiar with the following but i've heard that there are geo-positioning and proxy factors when you search from your computer vs from another server like mcdar's.
Thanks I thought you had it then, nail on head! lol Cleared my cache and everything but still Im on front page on every datacenter in mdcar but not when I directly access google. It'll be odd if Im on the front page for searches done in US but not in UK. Im on a UK server and the product is very UK aimed. Can someone search for sykes pickavant in google for me and see if shacktools.com is on the front page? result 5 - 9 it should show, hopefully. Thanks
I see you at #5 here which is http://72.14.203.104/ I see a number of datacenters have you at #13 for that term.
I Have noticed on Mcdar tht if when i do a search and only select 10 results i am #10. When i select 50 results i am #13 and when i click 100 results i am #16. Click on the data centre IP number and then do a search. I am also in the UK and am finding the same strange resulst between .co.uk and the other google datacentres. For the key word i am at #16 in google datacentres US. If i then count the UK based sites above me there is only 2. So you would think that when i do this search in the .co.uk i would be #3 but no i am #6 I am also seeing the same with Yahoo where at yahoo.com i am in the top 3 for all my 5 main keywords. When i do this search at yahoo.co.uk i am between 3 & 6. I'm not totally sure but i think it may be down to the fact of the number of backlinks i have from the US againt those i have from the UK. I am going to check in the next few days if the sites above me have more backlinks from UK based sites. If anyone has an opion on this please let me know
Thanks for checking it out. Again I looked through it and it showed me 10th on the datacenter you see me as #5 on. Then again I cant find my self lower than 10th on any. jason.ashby I just read your other post very interesting. I thought I was in a similar postion but arent sure now. I'll know whats going on once the datacenters settle down. I totally didnt think being .com as apposed to being .co.uk would effect my rankings for UK searches. I thought in worked completely off the server the domain was on.
I have noticed something. The better results in mcdar are for more recently cached versions. Which has to be good news?
Thanks Alex, didnt expect a direct answer from AOL! Anyway the AOL filter gives better results. But of course I would say that if my own sites higher.
If you're interested in AOL, you should check out AOL greenhouse http://greenhouse.aol.com/ which exists as a place for developers to post a lot of cool innovative things that they think of and create themselves. It already has some cool things like dashboard widgets and a fishcam and was created very recently.
