Most of you who read AOL Employees Fired for Search Releases would probably be happy enough to hear that AOL has closed it's AOL Research Section once and for all. I also noted that Matt Rotenberg, who was pretty pissed off (executive director of Electronic Privacy Information Center) quoted this: What are the chances that AOL would do just that? Sources: Google Blogoscoped + Glinden
The AOL Research Section basically gathers queries analyzes and basically learns how to be better from it...Kind of like Google does But they released their search queries a while ago: http://www.modernseo.com/search-engines/aol-employees-fired-for-search-releases which pissed off a LOT of people..
Whats the chance that within a week they'll create a new department, probably called something like "The Strategic Data Analysis Department", all companies do is play with words and most customers will never be the wiser.
Well, they haven't yet replaced their customer service department - so maybe they could start with that before even thinking about search analysis.
