Anyway to generate traffic?

Discussion in 'General Marketing' started by chroncile, Jan 1, 2008.

Hi, my general blog doesn't get any traffic, the only time it does get traffic is when I submit my stories to digg.
I want new people to come, and not only people from digg.
    Here is my blog:

    http://chroncilesblog.blogspot.com/

I would update it everyday if I had at least 10 uniques.
Please tell me what I can do for free, I don't want to pay to generate traffic.
    Thanks. :)

+Rep will be added if you give me good advice that will work.

Commenting never brought me traffic before.
    What does link exchange do?

Get yourself an Entrecard and become more mobile throughout other social media networks. Like MBL or BlogCatalog. commenting on blogs that have "dofollow" can also give off a little "link butter"

you can also put your blog as signature in any forums, link exchange may also help, and directory submission..

Use keywords when you comment on other Niche Blogs...

Definitely use Social Media sites for getting more free traffic.

Obviously, you want to use the best Titles that you can and get as much interesting content as you possibly can.

As stated above - use your link as your forum signature - but you definitely want to be sure that you're using those links in RELEVANT forums... as in promoting the site on forums where members are interested in what you are talking about.

Squidoo.com -- go create a lens using keywords that will provide more traffic to your site. Create several of them if you feel that there's some great keywords for more traffic.

Hubpages.com -- create a hub here and do the same thing you did with squidoo.com

What you need to focus on is SEO and gaining as much traffic as you can from those keywords you're targeting in your SEO efforts.

This is a good start =)

    Plus - it's all FREE

You are going into the marketing part of blogging without looking at the content part. After I went to your blog, all I see is ads and I really want to leave it.

Try visiting your blog, I am sure you will be greeted with 4 Adsense panels, the banner in the header and a small about me portion. NO CONTENTS at first sight.

Your blog has short posts and this means that it will be a bad idea to have an ad panel between them. Also, don't show your Digg counts unless they get a high number of Diggs. When readers see a high number, they will follow the flow and Digg for you; If they see a 2 all over your blog, they might not even read your post because the 2 already tells them that your content is lousy even if it is not!

I do seriously think that you need to work on your contents and the blog itself before going all out for marketing.

Really speaking, 80% of the blogs are not worth reading, and the remaining 20% require a lot of marketing effort to make them popular. The time spent on marketing them is often underestimated. I am not discouraging, but my experience is writing blogs does not make a business sense to me. If it gives you a part time pleasure it is a different thing unless you are ready to work really hard on content as well as the marketing as outlined above.

Too much "ad", too little "blog."

One of very few solutions for newly launched blog is linkreferral. This will not only give you traffic but also get you introduced some decent and honest bloggers.
