Found a nice brandable name that is once again available for purchase. Anything I should know?

Nothing wrong, only it should not have been used for a scam site before

how do i find that out? It has no backlinks, alexa, etc and the internet archive site is down for me.

I don't want to buy it and be disappointed. It's a great name imo though:)

    just use the link:domain.xxx ?

edit-nothing found. if I just do domain.xxx it shows 2 results. A wiki that is nothing and an expired domain site

If it's a nice domain & suits what your looking for, go & get it & then let us know what you registered.

If the search engines don't show any thing there should not be a problem

This is not any problem. Actually I own some domains that were previously registered, deleted and available again. And I even didn't know about that. I just found out they were registered before when I already registered them and then checked the whois (and found some info in the archives).

Nice name, good luck with it!

Just do a google search of the domain name, if nothing suspicious comes up then register it.Don't worry if the previous owner ucaused trouble with search engines, you can always file a reconsideration request as far as google is concerned.

You will never know for sure until you have registered it. But any domain name that has been registered before has the potential to be blacklisted by Google.

Use archives.org to check the history plus you can type in url:domainname into google to see if google indexed it and if it hasn't then it might be banned or hard to get indexed again and you may need a manual resubmission.
