i have used both of the companies above and icanahost is waaayy too slow with lots of downtime and dreamhost is but my budget is small as i am running a free site that hasn't made much money but has previously got over 6000 members. maybe with more than 100 on at one time! so i suspect i will need something a bit more powerful than the above, but want to save as much as possible. i know there are SO many hosts around from reading the threads on here but I am wondering if any specifically are known to be cheap but reliable with good amounts of bandwidth/space and can support all kinds of stuff... thanks!
i should clarify the problem i had with dreamhost. alot of stuff they don't support, such as my prev mambo site all setup i uploaded it to switch servers and it's down! i would really like to get my mambo site up and running again to be honest, want the easiest and cheapest way to do this while being able to support this number of users, with good integrated basic support for ffmpeg and ffmpeg-php and things like that.
is hostgator better than dreamhost? i've heard of it, along with a couple of others. i'd be interested to try it out. heard of a few codes that allow $0.01 / month hosting too? cheers!
yeh, hostgator is good...but they dont allow high cpu usage on shared accounts like most hosts. you can read reviews by many DP users and hostgator coupons HERE
