Anyones Rankings Just Sunk?

A strange thing just happened, like the flick of a switch a site that had 1,000's of page 1 rankings has been wiped completely out of the SERP's for every term except the domain name.

The site's been getting 13-15k of organic visitors per day and in the last hours or 2 it's had about 5. A scan of all the keywords i was tracking shows nothing across the board.

Can anyone see if this has happened also?

 

ive seen this of late on a few of my domains. The pages tend to come back within a week or so only ranking much lower than before. Was it a brand new domain?

 

No it's 2 years old, receives around half a million visitors a month all from organic SERP's. It had hundreds of page 1 placements for 1 and 2 word phrases with 300 Million plus results, and thousands of page 1 placements for 3 word results.

Every rank fell completely out of the SERP's a matter of hours ago, and it now ranks for nothing besides the domain name yet all pages are still cached.

 

when was ur site last crawled ?

and u lost ranking in google? or yahoo? MSN? or all?

 

Did you check to see if you are on the last page? AKA the -950 penalty.

 

The site is being crawled now and has been for the last 2 hours by Google bot which is normal. All pages are still cached, a lot are PR5 and its a very strong site.

Every one of its thousands of rankings are totally gone, no slow drop in SERPs just there one minute all gone the next.

I take it nobody has had the same recently?

This sounds like a further example of Googles madness.

Can you confirm what position you are coming up in for your search terms?

even if it is very high we need to know that to analyse what may be the problem.

I have seen daily fluctuation (far more than normal) of my various sites rankings however I have not heard of something as bad as this (yet)..and the rankings seem to be settling where they where before Google got 'the flu'

 

Sounds like you stopped pushing your SERPS really, and just expected ranks to stay. All of my rankings have went up In Google, but then again I do much SEO

 

No the site is growing in leaps and bounds, i know what im doing with SEO i rank around the top 10 for "SEO"

Im mainly trying to determine if the site manually had the plug pulled or its an algo quirk thats effected others.

The tool i use to track SERPs goes well beyond 1,000 results, and thousands of keywords/phrases have completely vanished without warning. One minute the site was getting its usual few thousand organic hits per hour and the next zero from Google and rankings zero besides the domain name.

As for my only website, my rankings have dropped from top rankings of up to 30(some first page), to 500-600!! Then about 4-5 days later it will come back. And sometimes it would dissappear.

I guess its not only that this is happening to.

 

Well I have been gaining rankings easily lately...Domain age got to love it!

 

I dont want to assist with taking sweetfunnys thread off topic so I suggest you start your own thread.....but in summary, I would say a good thing you should do is to host the site in the country you are targetting. So if its America host on a server in the US with a US registered IP//

 

I only lost one site that was #1 for it's keyword in Google. Pretty frustrating if you ask me.

My site has been number one for numerous keywords for about 2 months, its a 10 month old domain.

I have recently added a load of new pages (products as its eccommerce site), it went from 100 indexed pages to 500 now.

It is on page 5, 9, and 3, for its top keywords, with totally irrelevant serps above it.

The nose dive was on 21st or 22nd Jan I think, and it hasnt come back yet.

Is there an update going on? Flux? Have you contacted google... as alot of 'opinions' on forums are junk.

From my searches this seems to have happened last Jan aswell... is it just google updating stuff?

Any other ideas? Have you found anything more out? My site is WH, it is optimized but not overly. I do wish google wouldn't do this kind of thing.

 

Man sweet... this just made me sick. I'll cross my fingers that this is a temporary thing.

 

Any news on this???? My site is coming back.... went from page 4 to page 7 to page 9 yesterday.... now today i am back 11th top of page 2....


Funny thing is my main competitior has gone from no 2 serp... and he is below me on page 2 now......!!

Goodness knows what is going on... did someone at google spill their coffee in one of the machines?
