Ebooks are a good help but the best help (web & real life) is experience! Don't think about it , do it and see what happen .. thats it.

Thanks Briant -- this makes sense, the idea that if you come "late to the party" that the pickings are going to be lean or the goods may be all cleaned out. That sort of jives with what someone said on a blog (can't remember whose) about the internet marketing guru who is letting you know his secrets is really explaining his old bag of tricks. That he's like a magician who isn't going to teach you the trick that is his current bread-and-butter, but instead MIGHT explain something he first happened upon and used a while back.

I think what is frustrating is it's easy to feel like "Hey, it worked for person A, what's wrong with me?"

So really a new opportunity -- whether it be a new marketing venue or a new product for an existing marketing option is where the $$$'s are.

Sometimes I do think I'm getting closer. I am learning strategies and also about different promotional options. Today I made a free sale from an article that I had originally had as a landing page on a failed PPC campaign. So I guess I'm starting to build up my skills and my own bag of tricks. And I thought of another similar article (I keep the recommended product links on a page that is in the bio, so it's legit).

TheBen -- thanks to you too. I didn't see your post till I had posted mine. Sounds like you are saying what I was realizing. Try some stuff and see what happens. Don't give up if first attempts fail, but learn from it and make adjustments.

I make about $100-$200 a day with CJ. Chsajid - there is no point asking for the hot selling products because they all could be with the right visitors/site.. And even if you were told then really are you going to copy someone else?

Those of you who say you are making $100+ a day. How much time on average a day do you spend doing this?

Sorry one other question occurred to me. It was said

its all about risk..take a risk see what happens. But whatever ur risking..be willing to loose it.

I understand the basic concept of setting up an ad or a strategy and seeing what response you get and that it might be you lose money and then discontinue that ad, but keep running the winners. But my last-last question (for those who actually make money doing this) when you set-up an ad how long do you give it before you pull the plug? Do you wait some number of clicks (if so, how many) or run it some number of days (and do you limit the budget)?

Thanks. I REALLY appreciate getting honest answers on this stuff. I figure you must be being honest since you aren't trying to sell me anything or have an ulterior motive in your answers. So thanks again.

Well I started a new strategy with CJ last week... I tried my strategy only a few times a day and it has been earning me $80-100 a day... and this is the best part, my advertising is free. I only advertise one product on CJ.. I just figured out how to do it for free. I am now upping my daily advertising (still free, just takes some more time), and I expect to increase my earnings easily as well. Think of all the ways you can advertise a product, PPC is not always the answer.. nor is it always the best one. The method I stumbled on is so stupid, I am just damn pissed I did not think of it sooner. And no, I won't tell you what it is ;)

My point is this, think outside the box... if you do what everyone else does, you'll have what they have... think different and you will have more.

Thanks for the think-outside-the-box prompt, you have given me something to think about. Certainly free ads, links, etc are no-risk and perhaps best therefore. In fact I did come up with one new approach to try just based on you saying that.

However obviously since people are saying you have to be willing to risk something, they must be talking about PPC -- well, maybe I should say I assume they are talking about PPC. And to those who use PPC, how long do you run an ad before you decide it's a loser? 1 week? 100 clicks? 200?

I am now up to over $150 a day average.. and climbing. I have some other strategies I plan to try advertising, these are gonna cost me some money. I have no problem spending money.. For the most part, you MUST spend money to make money.

And I am going to spend it on an advertising medium 99% of the people don't think of. Which is great for me!

CJ has never been my biggest affiliate network but I make good money there and the principles are the same across the board. In my experience if you aren't willing to spend a lot on PPC just to find out what's worthwhile, you won't be able to separate profitable from unprofitable programs efficiently. And you have to be willing to try new things constantly - new traffic building techniques, new programs, new networks, etc. Don't get too attached to any one program or network, and be willing to learn from your own experiences and data, not just copy someone else's technique. Previous comments about ebooks are right on, you're just getting someone else's secondhand knowledge and you can be sure they've already moved on to something more profitable. When that strategy's tapped out they'll probably write another ebook about it and try to sell it to you :)

PPC is like the magic bullet. Cause it's targeted traffic.
If you're impatient, PPC is good for you. But SEO is the best free one in the long run.

You need to have a few things in order:
    1. Choose good affiliate programs with top-notch conversion.
    2. Invest time, energy and some money in promoting them.
    3. Aim for natural traffic - via search engine marketing as well as very targeted PPC
    4. Analyze performance of each offer -- adjust offer selection to maximize your profit.

Hee hee... sorry, not me. Why would you sell info that makes you money AND would cut into your profit if others did the same thing?

I know tons of tricks with proxy, but I would never make an ebook revealing any of it, even if I would make money. I'm sure a lot of proxy owners getting a lot of high traffic to their site are aware of them too - but it's better to keep it to ourselves, and keep creating profitable proxy sites - rather than just sell it away. (unless you could sell it for $50+, but no one will pay that much.)
