Hi, I'm conducting something of an impromptu market survey of anyone who bills out their time by the hour. Basically I'm wanting to write a number of profession specific articles for my time and billing software. So, if you do bill out your time by the hour if you could take a minute to respond to the following it would be appreciated: 1. What would you classify yourself as? (eg web designer, graphic designer, it consultant) 2. What are 3 critical things you need to track (other than time) so you can bill your customers accurately and to keep them informed of what you've done? (eg expenses, assets worked on, mileage, deliverables, debtors) 3. Do you bill your clients by project or do you simply have a monthly (or some other period) account you send them? 4. Do you have some industry specific jargon that just doesn't fit with any billing systems you've seen or used, if so, what is it? (for example, architect have a number of industry specific activities they carry out, engineers use a WBS to classify projects) 5. What billing system do you currently use? 6. What are the three things you like the most about it? 7. What are the three things that annoy you the most about it? 8. Any other comments? TIA to anyone who takes the time to respond,
