Stupid Question, what changes in the txt file, so I know the update is working? I have a string of numbers at the very beginning, followed by ads.

I sometimes get an mysql error, and sometimes I see the banner ad instead of the text ad, I display 5 ads, so then I see 1 banner ad and 4 text ad, when I refresh I see all 5 text ads

Yesterday my ad appeared +/- in the middle of my ad_network_ads.txt file... Now it's almost at the top of the file. I guess it will be deleted soon.

ResaleBroker I think that's because of the xhtml code...

Yeah, but in XHTML the first half of an href tag doesn't need to be closed.

You close it with the second tag. This means you don't need the extra / at the end of the opening one.

I've been missing with this for a couple hours now,but no luck. The cgi version works, but I can't get validated now using it. When I clean out the txt file, and use the php code, it won't load the page. The only way it works is if I leave the old links in the txt file.

The "bad" XHTML tag has been fixed. Update your ad_network.php file and it should go away (the ad_network_ads.txt file does not need to be flushed).

Definitely, the email solution a few posts up is a great idea. I installed the new code and it's working fine but if a bug is found say tomorrow and I don't check the forum until next week, then my site could be bugged because of it ;)

I haven't gotten around to updating my include file but I too am occasionally getting a mysql error:

Warning: mysql_query(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/.sites/33/site5/web/includes/db_mysql.php on line 158

I had the ad network running fine on 4 blogs - they are Plog blog tools.

Shawn, you had me try this:

    {include_php file="ad_network.php"}

a few weeks ago when I was trying to get the ad network configured. That include is still on my blogs' pages, but there are no ads showing up.

Also, nothing has changed on my sites. I've updated the ad_network.php file per what is in my login area of DP, to no avail.

Not sure what happened nor what to do. Any suggestions?

    Hank

Will this affect the ASP version done by someone on this forum? It seems to be running fine still, but I just got the email regarding the soon to fail validation if the site is not updated with new code (php version).

Ditto-- for most of my sites, anyways. Shawn, what's the drop-dead date on the validation thing?

The new code seemed to be working fine for me but then I started occasionally seeing:

Warning mysql_query(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in home/.sites/33/site5/web/includes/db_mysql.php on line 158 us82jsdd

Also, seems to be more occurances of duplicate ads on the same page then before. Will this stop once the ads text file cycles through?
