Anyone using Yahoo!Mail with Thunderbird?

    Hi,

I have been trying to setup my Yahoo email account with Thunderbird to download my emails but I wasn't able to successfully setup the system. All the information about this on the web is somehow outdated or I am doing something wrong.

I installed webmail and yahoomail extensions for thunderbird and followed the directions carefully but no results.

Can anyone help me on this?

I know about upgrading but I am looking for a free solution.

Well, thanks but I came across about a dozen or so articles like that but all are talking about the older version of Thunderbird and the settings are a bit different in the new version.

It only worked with mail plus, the rest (Free) was on and off in terms of mail downloads. Try gmail instead.

No... you can't do that with Yahoo free in my knowledge. Since yahoo did not support pop3 unlike gmail.

Yeah there is no such facility available in Yahoo Mail! as far as Gmail concerned you can use it easily

I don't think I will ever switch to Gmail, because for me Yahoo mail and Gmail are incomparable. Anyway if I cannot find the free way I will pay for the upgrade.

Yes... better do that if you want yahoo to support pop3.

Oh one more thing... why Gmail are so famous right now... It's because in signature you can put active link if you like it. just FYI though. ;)

The layout, simplicity of accessing and reading the mails. This is my preference.

By the way I solved the problem, and if anyone else is interested: First change your location settings to Asia in Yahoo and then install the following extension http://webmail.mozdev.org/ on Thunderbird. If you still cannot do send me a pm and I will try to help you.
