im using surfspeedy and currently my site is down for 3 days now, anyone here hosted with them ? I've been using the hosting for almost 3 months now with no problem until this happen.
I used Surfspeedy in the past , and almost for a whole year with zero downtime and fast servers. Have you contacted the support service? In fact they run an excellent monitoring service (Hyperspin) so this issue is really strange and maybe some misconfiguration within your site.
yes, the last 2 month was excellent including the support. I already contacted them when i knew my hosting was down, and two days later with no reply. So i contacted them again now i have a reply but no update yet.
I really had a bad experience with Surf Speedy, they also didn't want to cancel my account. I strongly recommend HostGator
Why did you have a bad experience with SurfSpeedy? Say it so is not enough because many people try to cheat hosting services, then get caught and their accounts cancelled. These users usually go out there blaming services when they are direct responsibles of ceased hosting. As I told before, I was hosted at SurfSpeedy, but eventually moving away to Servage for more resources, webspace and hosted domains. However, keeping good experiences. I have heard about many users who abused both services, specially hosting intensive-CPU scripts and excessively high-bandwith forums. Hostgator is relatively good because they use servers housed at The Planet Datacenter, but its service is not as good as it seems, and plenty of hidden schemes, such as their reseller or multi-domain hosting plans.
still no update yet coming from them. im using their 39$/month cpanel vps account for my game site and other small site. now im loosing traffic since my game site is still establishing traffic.
Don't remember if SurfSpeeedy has a downtime clause where they say about compensating downtime issues, double check the terms and try to make them valid. However for the price I would suggest Servage, which allows you to run games sites for only $7.50 monthly, but if you want to stick to VPS, I would suggest rapidVPS, which plans start at $9.90 month with webmin control panel or add $20 for cpanel.
Just another fact, if you are under a VPS account, have you tried to restart cpanel, apache or bind by your own? Most VPS services are unamanaged, meaning that they help you with some technical issues, but you have to take care of your virtual server
how do i restart the cpanel, apache ? cause i dont have an access to WHM currently cause it saying page cannot be displayed.
Try downloading WINscp: www.winscp.net Once installed, enter your server login details and from the command line type this command: /etc/init.d/httpd restart
the host is working now, but some the domain are still resolving, so i need to used proxy in order to view them. what i did is restart my apache and bind. Thanks Pat Gael . Why surfspeedy tech is taken long to resolve this issue. hehehe
having a bad time with at moment my server is off line couple hours last time it was for 24 hours a few days ago. I dont think i will be hosting my new site webhostjury.com on their server! Some how i think they are going to get a place of prominance in the site!!
Well I'm a long time customer of SurfSpeedy (2 years+) and absolutely had no such huge downtimes. I don't think you'd get 100% from anywhere in the world of shared hosting.. can you? The tech guys there (Mike, Steve, Brandon and more) are very cooperative. I've had issues which had nothing to do with them i.e. script related problems and they fixed it for me without any hesitations or whatever.. what more do you expect?
I am a surfspeedy customer myself, and I think this is worst hosting on the planet. My server is down for week now. The basic reason it is down because the name server set up disappeared -- just like that. The customer service is totally ignorant... They have a magical ability to answer any questions with another question and of course you need to wait 2-12 hours between their "answers". This is I just want 3 hours up time to move all my websites from this place.
Please just read this post from surfspeedy: Hi, We can't locate your VPS on the node where it was setup. We are checking the issue with the senior admin. We will keep you posted. Thank you for contacting our Customer Support. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us, and be sure to give us a detailed description of how we can assist you further. *** they can not find my VPS account...
and the plot thickens... I have started a "Critical: server down" help desk thread on 29 /10. So far they failed to gain back control over my VPS account. As of today, the VPS is back but there is no account in my control panel. They lost all my websites, msql data bases, virtual hosts, etc. Stay away from this charlatans.
