Anyone here using the new service from Adbrite.com, Spottt.com? It seems to be a link exchange program that uses a 125x125 image. Can an image link exchange help with rankings at all? Spottt is really more like a banner exchange right?... or am I wrong? The good thing is, you can add it to your myspace, squidoo, blog and more because it uses an html code instead of javascript. But for regular sites, is it ok? I mean, would google penalize you for using this service? What are your thoughts on Spott...
if the html code like <a href="url come here"><img src="" alt=""></a> , it will help the rank. alt="" part will be the anchor txt
I signed up about 5 days ago, and have it quite good. I don't think Google can punish you for using such a system, as you have no idea what sites your banner will appear on, and also, the link back to your site is through the banner only - no anchor text involved. Alex
You know at first I thought Adbrite just copied us (Entrecard), but then I discovered that they've been working on it since before we launched, we just happened to launch three months before they did. As for rankings, a number of our members have reported that Entrecard does help rankings, because a lot of people link to their "top droppers" and a lot of people link to others with the widget "above the fold" for quick dropping.
