Anyone used Telebid? Are they REALLY making this much profit?

I've come across this site before, and just kind of blanked it out, as I didn't really understand the concept and workings behind it. But after reading on moneysavingexpert, I've just realised that it's probably one of the best money making ideas on the net.

Now maybe people know more about this site than be, but from what I've read, what I've watched on the site, and what other people have told me, I'm pretty sure this is how it works:

Basically it's an "auction" site, items start at 0p, and people can place a bid. Now, people have to "buy" bids, and bids cost 50p each. Every time a bid is placed on an item, the price of the item goes up by 7p.

Now, one guy was looking at an laptop on there, which had reached £3269.49. So divided by 0.07 (bid incretments of 7p), that's 46,707 bids. And at 50p per bid, Telebid have raked in about £23,500 on that item ALONE. Bearing it mind it was a high spec laptop, which would normally have cost about £6,000, say the winning bidder put 200 bids down, that's £100 in bids plus the cost of the item, that's £3269, so under £3400 for a £6,000 laptop, that ISN'T BAD!

So, the buyer got an extemely cheap laptop which they could sell on for a higher price elsewhere, Telebid made an absolutely staggering £23,500 on the item; everyone is a winner....

APART from those bidding that didn't win the item.

I guess it's a little like gambling. You can spend hundeds of pounds on bids on one item, win the item and get a fantastic deal. But then you could loose the auction, and loos those hundreds of pounds on bids.

But, really, making so many thousands of pounds on each item, it's just the most genious idea Telebid have come up with here. Surely they are making millions, yet, they still seem to be a relatively small website?

What do you guys think about it?

The figures just seem to amaze me...
