I just got told from a potential buyer for one of my domains that they have put funds in Safeway to purchase the domain. Has anyone ever used this method. I have never sold domains, so I not sure the best way to do it. Thanks!
I just got an email from a potential buyer for one of my domains this morning too and he said the funds were deposited in safefunds.com and that I should visit their website for details regarding receipt of payment and transfer of ownership of the domain. I wonder if it's the same guy... I've never heard of safefunds so I'm kind of skeptical about this.
I also got this email from a potential buyer of one of my domains.. I too have never heard of SafeFunds.. Not looking very legit to me...
That is what I am saying. I don't think this person is going to be paying! Probably take the site and then never send the money or charge it back. Something weird going on here.
Was your email a similar template to the above? And if so did you reply and ask to see the purchase agreement?
Well I've requested the Purchase Agreement. I am not wanting to sell my domain, but I'm interested to see how legit these people are as if it's a scam it would be important to warn people...
I got the same email yesterday for one of my domain name. It seems same person is sending exact email template from year 2006 or before. .SR
I just received the same email as well. What strikes me here is the fact that the guy candidly made an offer in the thousands to buy my domain. If I was interested in purchasing something I wouldn't say to someone here, take $2000 and give me your domain, I would approach them and ask them for a price to sell. This is a scam I feel but I am going to enjoy a few games with him. If you do sign up to his website, make sure you DO NOT use any of your usual passwords, or email. He could be harvesting information he might be able to use elsewhere.
Knew it was strange. Seems alot of people got these. You just know someone is going to get caught- Atleast this is here and it may help someone.
I always Google someones e-mail that requests information on my domains/wants to buy them. Usually their e-mail turns up on domainscammers.com
my review- absolutly trustworthy company made 2 smoothly transaction with this site. 10/10 very cheap comissions
Well its quite amusing to find this thread via Google. SafeFunds.com is not a fraud. I've used it to purchase a domain worth $900,000 on behalf of a client. And I know atleast one guy who uses SafeFunds to acquire domain names on behalf of a fund manager. It could be him! I don't know why people don't use their due diligence to find the obvious. Even a simple search of US trademarks will prove that its not a fraud - http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&entry=75748861 leave aside searching Indiana state companies record to find that they are incorporated there.
Existence of a trademark doesnt prove that something isn't a fraud... But to be fair the website looks fairly legit.
