Anyone used Error Guard

I have a very invasive popup that shows up when I am using IE for a product called Error Guard. It is almost impossible to prevent this thing from theoretically scanning your computer and installing itself.

It reports large numbers of error found and claims it will fix them all if you just register and pay them $29.95.

Has anybody actually used this program? And what was your experience?

so your saying this ErrorGuard is some sort of invasive program? Or it helps to prevent invasive installs?

I would be loathe to use any software that tried to gain my business by invading my system.

Stop windows messaging and that should stop the popup from returning.

Error Guard is spyware and garbage. Try AdAware and Spybot S&D to get rid of it. If that doesn't work, you'll need a program called HijackThis to create a log and have that log interpreted to remove the problems.

Follow these removal steps to uninstall this spyware from your computer:
Go to Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel, click Add/Remove Programs. From the list select Error Guard, click Remove or Change to uninstall it.
Delete the folder ErrorGuard under "Program Files" directory.

If the Add/Remove procudure fails, try the following steps to manually remove this spyware:
Click Start > Run, type 'regedit' to open the Registry Editor.

Navigate to the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run

In the right pane, delete the value named "ErrorGuard" which points to the file "C:\Program Files\ErrorGuard\ErrorGuard.exe".

Navigate to and delete the following registry key:

    O16 - DPF: {205FF73B-CA67-11D5-99DD-444553540006} (CInstall Class) - http://www.errorguard.com/installation/Install.cab

    Reboot the computer.

Delete the following folder and all the content within it:
    C:\PROGRAM FILES\ERRORGUARD

EDIT: just noticed that the thread is 2 months old and bumped thank to tomecki's valuable comment

I had a problem with this little program. Its installer loaded a trojan horse in my system. Thank god I had Webroot spy sweeper which immediately saw it, scanned it, and will remove it when completed. I'll then remove the program. Error Guard launched with the weather bug I have Installed on my system..

I ordered and paid for EG after it offered me a free trial shortly after I had ordered and paid for Registry Mechanic, EG seemed to have found 84 more entries than RM and I was impressed. I emailed RM to cancel & get a refund explaining why. They responded by telling me to check out EG's reputation, which I did. Various reports were not good + my Spybot S&D was throwing up 7 entries against EG every time I run it so I immediately removed it from my PC and emailed them requesting a refund - they responded by giving details of how to get a refund, and I now wait to see if this is forthcoming. They never tried to defend my accusations they had a dubious reputation though!
