Blogster.com just called and wanted me to have them set up a blog for my site. Since it'd be a commercial blog, they said it'd be $500 one time fee. He said that business blogs are not allowed there for free and if found, they are deleted. Anyone have experience with them? My initial thought is that they put $100k into the domain and need to make it back somehow, but I'm open for possibilities. And yes, I know blogger.com (et al) are free. Just curious if anyone has used their service before.
Maybe you guys can fill in the blanks because I'm missing something. I could develop my own domain name / website with blog software for well under $500 or I could pay them $500 and develop their domain name. Am I missing something? Brandon
I guess their selling point is that the blog is distributed out to other networks and syndicated *shrug* Other than the problem I noted above, even the guy on the phone didn't seem super enthralled with what he was offering. I've had salesman selling worse stuff who were more psyched about it.
lorien- Do you already have a commercial blog there and they are threatening you? $500 sounds way overpriced.
I never actually heard of them before today. I have a blog on blogger.com - which I'm too lazy to post stuff too already - why do I need a second? LOL. They said they'd create content for it, links to my site, etc. Depending on the # of pages created (especially if its over 70 or 80), does not make it an AWFUL deal (certainly, I've done worse in the past), but will there be results? That's the question. I don't even know if their network gets traffic.
